About Robert Kasirer

Manager of the Kasirer Family Office

Robert Kasirer manages his family office, where he built a national real estate investment and management company with a diversified portfolio across 12 states. His work reflects long-term involvement in real estate investment, business management, and family enterprise leadership. He also serves as president of his family foundation, which supports educational institutions and Jewish causes. In this role, he has helped direct charitable support to universities, schools, camps, campus organizations, and community institutions that foster learning, identity, and connection.

A History of Family Survival and Strength to Strive

Robert is the son of Holocaust survivors, and his family history has strongly influenced his values and sense of responsibility. His mother was imprisoned in a concentration camp, while his father was sent to forced labor. Many members of their family were killed during the Holocaust. His parents came from a small village in the Carpathian Mountains, and his father trained as a shoemaker before helping support the family after losing his own father at a young age.

Kasirer was born in Europe after his parents were liberated, married, and waited for a visa to move to the United States. He and one younger sister were born before the family eventually settled in Los Angeles, while his youngest sister was born after their arrival. His parents were devout Jews who worked to help build Jewish life in their new city, where Jewish schools, camps, synagogues, and student opportunities were still limited in the 1950s.

Robert grew up in a home where memory, education, faith, and community service were treated as lasting responsibilities. His parents helped establish Jewish schools and synagogues and supported Jewish institutions in the United States and Israel. Their purpose was shaped by the memory of the six million Jews who died in the Holocaust and by the hope that future generations would remain connected to their heritage. This mission became an important influence on his own path.

His Education and Career Trajectory

Robert Kasirer received both secular and Jewish education, beginning with his time at a Jewish boarding school in New York when he was 13. There, he continued his general studies while becoming proficient in Jewish learning, which remained part of his education during his university years. He later attended law school, passed the New York bar, and moved to Los Angeles, where he formed a law firm with two associates and focused on public finance work.

Robert worked on financing matters across the United States during his legal career before joining another law firm in an advisory role. In 1984, he partnered with his father to form a real estate company focused on developing, owning, and operating commercial properties, primarily shopping centers in Los Angeles. After his father passed away in 2005, he continued to operate and grow the company while maintaining the family’s long-term business approach.

Kasirer later saw the next generation become involved in the family office and its many subsidiaries. His two sons and son-in-law joined the company and now lead its day-to-day operations, while he serves as chairman. This transition allowed the business to continue under family leadership while giving younger family members responsibility for daily management. His role reflects continuity, trust, and the steady transfer of experience within a family enterprise built over many years.

The Digital Project

Robert Kasirer founded a nonprofit initiative in the United States in 2022, along with a related nonprofit in Israel, to develop a digital platform and app for Jewish life. The project brings together music, Jewish learning, prayer, podcasts, videos, and short interactive digital experiences in one place. It was created to serve individuals and communities by making Jewish content more accessible, personal, and welcoming for people across different locations, backgrounds, denominations, and levels of affiliation.

Robert helped shape the platform so that organizations, synagogues, schools, camps, campus groups, and content creators could share their own material through customized digital spaces. These spaces allow communities to share their own content while connecting users to a wider shared library. The project is meant to support a more connected digital environment for Jewish life, where people can discover resources, learn, pray, listen, watch, and engage in ways that feel approachable.

Kasirer has been guided by the belief that each generation must find its own way to keep Jewish life meaningful. His parents helped strengthen Jewish continuity through schools, synagogues, and community institutions, while his current work responds to the needs of the digital age. He recognizes that many younger Jews may feel less connected to traditional institutions, and he sees technology as one way to create new paths for identity, belonging, learning, prayer, and culture.

Robert views this work as part of a broader shift from isolated programs toward a connected ecosystem. Instead of relying solely on centralized institutions, the project supports a networked model in which tradition and technology can work together. Its purpose is to help Jewish individuals and organizations strengthen engagement through thoughtful design and accessible tools. For him, the effort honors the resilience of earlier generations while helping future generations stay connected in meaningful and practical ways.

Personal Life

Robert Kasirer has been married to his wife for 48 years, and together they have four children and thirteen grandchildren, including seven boys and six girls. His family life reflects the same values of continuity, heritage, and responsibility that have shaped much of his professional and philanthropic work. Outside his business and charitable commitments, he enjoys skiing, hiking, and traveling the world, especially when he can learn from the traditions, cultures, and natural beauty of the places he visits.
